In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive eye care services, including eye examinations, diagnosis of ocular conditions, and management of eye health. Your expertise will help improve patients' vision and overall well-being through personalized treatment plans and advanced diagnostic techniques. Responsibilities Conduct thorough ophthalmic patient examinations, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and assessment of ocular health using ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment. Diagnose and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and other ocular conditions utilizing medical knowledge and clinical judgment. Perform contact lens fittings, adjustments, and follow-up care to ensure optimal vision correction and patient comfort. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to document patient histories, exam findings, treatment plans, and medical records accurately. Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, contact lens care, and treatment options while maintaining excellent client communication and customer service standards. Operate medical equipment safely and effectively, adhering to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Collaborate with healthcare professionals for ophthalmic diagnosis consultations and coordinate care for complex or chronic conditions. Requirements Valid licensure as an Optometrist with appropriate state or regional licensing requirements fulfilled. Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with a focus on patient care and disease management. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy of the eye, medical terminology, and ophthalmic diagnostic procedures. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment. Familiarity with medical coding practices related to optometry services for billing purposes. Excellent communication skills to effectively explain diagnoses and treatment options to patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Ability to operate medical equipment such as tonometers and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools confidently. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times.
