Job Description

What We Offer We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Hyperbaric Technician to join our premier wound care team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of patient healing, operating our state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers. You will work closely with physicians and nursing staff to deliver safe, compassionate, and highly effective treatments to patients dealing with chronic wounds, carbon monoxide poisoning, tissue damage, and other specialized conditions. Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm, no weekends, holidays, or on call!
Status:
PRN What You'll Do Chamber Operation & Safety:
Safely operate, monitor, and maintain monoplace or multiplace hyperbaric chambers in strict accordance with safety standards and prescription parameters.
Patient Preparation:
Prepare patients for treatment by reinforcing safety protocols, checking for prohibited items, taking vital signs, and ensuring optimal physical and psychological comfort.
System Monitoring:
Continuously monitor patients during the dive cycle for signs of oxygen toxicity, barotrauma, or anxiety, communicating effectively through the chamber intercom.
Maintenance & Quality Control:
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks, gas logs, and preventive maintenance on hyperbaric equipment; immediately report any mechanical or safety deviations.
Clinical Documentation:
Accurately log treatment pressures, dive times, patient responses, and vital signs.
Emergency Response:
Maintain absolute readiness to execute emergency decompression or evacuation procedures according to established clinic protocols.
Team Collaboration:
Assist wound care nurses and physicians with patient transfers, positioning, and basic wound dressing changes as needed.
What We're Looking For Education:
High School or GED required.
Vocational / Technical
LPN or EMT/Paramedic, preferred.
Experience:
2 years In the medical field, required.
Licensure/Certification:
Licensed Practical nurse or EMT/Paramedic, preferred. Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Successful completion of a
NBDHMT/UHMS
approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course. Must obtain certificate of competency in transcutaneous oximetry monitoring. Upon eligibility, must obtain certification for Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) and maintain certification. Must complete an 8 hour wound care course and a preceptorship with a certified wound care nurse. Must have patient care experience. Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred): Emergency medicine and/or hyperbaric diving experience. Why Choose Novant Health?
