This position offers a daylight schedule supporting Priority's expanding operations in the Roanoke Valley.
Pay Range:
$30.50
00 per hour Applicants must hold a current Virginia certification at an appropriate ALS provider level or be eligible for reciprocity prior to hire. We Offer Competitive wages and full benefits for full-time employees Company-provided uniforms, including footwear Incentives toward EMS-related education and certifications Continuing Education (CE) hours to maintain certification Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age Must have an approved driving record (or approval by company insurance underwriters) Must have a clean criminal background history Must pass a 10-panel drug screening Must hold a current CPR certification Must hold a current Virginia ALS-level EMS certification (or be eligible for reciprocity) Must maintain all certifications required for the applicable ALS provider level The ALS provider must demonstrate competency in assessing and managing patients requiring advanced life support , utilizing appropriate equipment, medications, and clinical skills within their certification level and applicable protocols, including the ability to: Verbally communicate in person, via telephone, and telecommunications using the English language Hear spoken information from coworkers, patients, physicians, and dispatchers, and recognize common emergency scene sounds Lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 with assistance), at a height of 33 inches, and a distance of 10 feet Read and comprehend written materials under stressful conditions Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, medications, and other required information Demonstrate manual dexterity and fine motor skills necessary to perform ALS procedures and provide safe patient care Bend, stoop, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces Meet minimum vision requirements to operate a motor vehicle within the state Description of Tasks Receive dispatch calls, verbally acknowledge assignments, identify the most expeditious route, and observe traffic ordinances Perform scene size-up and determine scene safety, mechanism of injury or nature of illness, and number of patients Assess patients and determine appropriate treatment and level of care based on clinical findings Establish and maintain patient airways and provide appropriate respiratory and ventilatory support Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms within the provider's scope of practice Establish vascular access and administer medications and fluids as authorized by protocol and certification level Provide advanced assessment and treatment for cardiac, respiratory, neurological, traumatic, allergic, diabetic, behavioral, toxicological, and other medical emergencies Perform resuscitative interventions, including CPR, defibrillation, and other appropriate ALS procedures Recognize changes in patient condition and adjust treatment appropriately Communicate with medical control when required and follow applicable protocols and physician direction Safely lift, move, position, and transport patients Provide continuous assessment, monitoring, and treatment during transport Determine the appropriate receiving facility based on patient condition, protocol, and medical direction Communicate patient assessments, treatments, medications, and changes in condition to receiving healthcare personnel Complete accurate and detailed patient care documentation Follow infection-control and body-substance-isolation procedures Dispose of contaminated materials, decontaminate vehicle interiors, and restock supplies Maintain ambulance readiness, including cleanliness, fuel, fluid levels, and tire pressure Check medical equipment, medications, and supplies for readiness and complete required daily check-off documentation Attend required continuing education and refresher training programs Maintain all required EMS and CPR certifications Arrive on time for scheduled shifts in proper uniform Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, dispatch, patients, families, and facility staff Respond to transports promptly, efficiently, and safely Meet all qualifications within the functional job analysis for the applicable ALS role Join the Priority Patient Transport Team At Priority Patient Transport , you'll join a supportive, patient-focused team that values professionalism, growth, and quality care.
