Position Overview:
The Patient Collections serves as the primary point of contact for patients with outstanding balances, ensuring that communication is handled with empathy, professionalism, and a focus on patient satisfaction. This individual will assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities, set up payment arrangements, and help resolve billing questions. Candidates with prior experience in behavioral health collections or admissions coordination are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Communicate with patients to discuss account balances, payment options, and financial responsibilities. Review patient accounts and verify insurance details, payment histories, and billing information. Provide clear explanations of billing statements and assist patients in understanding insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs. Maintain compliance with all HIPAA and federal collection regulations. Document all communications and updates accurately within the system. Collaborate with internal billing and insurance teams to ensure account accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Handle patient inquiries with compassion, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented approach. Support continuous improvement of patient communication and financial processes.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in patient collections within the behavioral health treatment space required. Background as an Admissions Coordinator in behavioral health strongly preferred. Strong understanding of insurance benefits, patient billing, and collection practices. Excellent communication and customer service skills. High level of empathy, patience, and professionalism when working with patients in recovery or treatment. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounts efficiently. Proficient with EMR systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
