Observes and reports abnormal occurrences or changes in patient condition. Cleans stocks and maintains supplies for the patient's room and unit. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Checks on patients hourly on assigned unit Assists in the admission of patients to the unit to include orientation to the unit, hospital routine and patient care equipment Responds to needs of patients with immediate assistance when able or by reporting needs to appropriate staff Assists in maintaining patient safety to include the proper use of equipment and supplies Maintains a well-stocked, clean patient environment Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services Participates in educational and Performance Improvement activities Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training :
High school diploma or equivalent required
Work Experience :
None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Excellent guest relations skills Verbal and written skills required Ability to read English Ability to accept supervision from a multidisciplinary team Flexible in approach to work tasks and schedules
Physical Requirements :
Ability to work variable shifts Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting Visual and auditory acuity for observing patients May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
