Job Description
The Transit Support Specialist safely transports patients in wheelchairs, stretchers or hospital beds in a safe and efficient manner. Working under direct supervision, this role responds to requests timely and treats patients and families with care and kindness. Essential Job Function Transports patients from one area of the hospital to another, checking their identification information to confirm that the correct person is being transported at the correct time. Complies with safety policies and guidelines to ensure that patients are transported safely and within regulation. Uses the appropriate Hand-Off tool (Hall Pass, Ticket-to Ride, or other) to document accurately patient status, location and condition. Maintains a professional demeanor and provides customer service to assist staff, patients and their families and help answer any pertinent questions about transport. Cleans and monitors equipment to find issues that would require the equipment to be replaced or repaired. Performs other duties as assigned.
