Group Fitness Instructor

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Fitness Instructor to join our health and fitness team. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a variety of group fitness formats, with a strong background in areas such as strength training, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, and dance-based fitness . This position is ideal for an instructor who enjoys working with participants of varying fitness levels and abilities and can create safe, engaging, and inclusive classes that improve strength, mobility, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health, and overall wellness. Duties Lead safe, engaging, and effective group fitness classes, including strength, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, dance, and other fitness formats. Develop well-structured classes appropriate for participants of varying ages, fitness levels, and physical abilities. Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate individual needs and limitations. Demonstrate proper exercise technique, body mechanics, and movement patterns. Educate participants on proper form, exercise benefits, and injury prevention. Create a welcoming, supportive, and motivating class environment. Monitor participants throughout classes and provide appropriate instruction and feedback. Assist with maintaining fitness equipment and keeping exercise areas clean, organized, and safe. Promote fitness programs, classes, and wellness initiatives to encourage member participation and engagement. Stay current with group fitness trends, exercise guidelines, and safe training practices. Participate in additional fitness center programs, events, or wellness initiatives as needed. Qualifications Previous experience teaching group fitness classes or leading exercise programs. Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: strength training, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, dance fitness, functional fitness, cycling, or similar formats . Group fitness, personal training, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, or other nationally recognized fitness certification preferred. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, exercise technique, body mechanics, and basic program design. Ability to safely modify exercises for participants with different fitness levels, abilities, and limitations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and engage participants. Comfortable working with a diverse population and creating an inclusive fitness environment. CPR/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire. Experience working in a fitness center, health club, wellness center, or similar setting is preferred. Passion for health, fitness, and helping others improve their overall well-being. Ideal candidates are versatile instructors who can teach multiple class formats or bring expertise in strength, Yoga, Barre, Pilates, dance, or other complementary fitness disciplines.
Pay:
$45.00 - $65.00 per hour
