Job Description
Full job description Member Onboarding & Assessments Conduct new member orientations, including equipment instruction and facility walkthroughs Perform basic fitness assessments (balance, strength, mobility, etc.) Help members set realistic goals and establish a starting plan Ensure members feel confident and comfortable using the facility independently Personal Training Conduct one-on-one and small group training sessions tailored to individual goals and abilities Design safe, effective, and progressive exercise programs Track client progress and adjust programs as needed Provide accountability, motivation, and education to support long-term success Group Fitness Instruction Lead engaging, safe, and inclusive group fitness classes Provide clear instruction with appropriate modifications and progressions Foster a positive, community-driven class environment Monitor class safety and participant experience Special Programs Support and/or lead structured programs (e.g., fall prevention, diabetes prevention, workshops, socialization activities) Assist with program setup, assessments, special events Help deliver educational components where applicable Front Desk & Operations Provide exceptional customer service during check-in and throughout member interactions Manage class registrations, scheduling, and basic administrative tasks Support daily operations to ensure a smooth and welcoming environment Address member questions, concerns, and needs in a timely manner Keep front desk, lobby, fitness floor, and common areas clean, safe, and presentable Promptly report maintenance issues, hazards, spills, or damaged equipment Community Outreach Support outreach efforts to increase awareness and engagement Assist with events, health fairs, and community partnerships Represent the center in a professional and welcoming manner Help build relationships that strengthen the center's presence in the community Qualifications Skills 3+ years of working with older adults Must be eager to learn and continue professional development and education Understanding of working with older adults, including balance, fall prevention, and mobility training Ability to lead safe, engaging group classes and design effective training programs while confidently cueing, demonstrating, and modifying exercises for all fitness levels Strong, warm communication style with the ability to build trust, listen effectively, and provide clear, professional instruction Proficiency in basic computer operations, including email communication, scheduling systems (e.g., Mindbody), data entry, and use of tools like spreadsheets and word processing, with the ability to learn new software quickly and accurately Ability to work effectively within a team, communicate clearly, and remain flexible in supporting multiple areas of operation Certifications/Licenses CPR, AED, First Aid Certification Fitness Certification (NASM, NSCA, ACE, etc.) Education Minimum of high school diploma or GED Bachelor's degree in a related field of health/fitness, or experience equivalent to five years in the industry is preferred Compensation + Benefits $24-30/hour 40 hours/week Mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends Employee discount on membership/classes/paid services Paid time off Retirement plan
