Employees must be able to work a minimum of 3.8 hours per day , Monday through Friday, for a total of approximately 19 hours per week . The school-year assignment runs August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027 . Summer seasonal positions may also be available. Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Education and Recreation is looking for dependable, energetic Recreation Leader 2 staff to support our programs. This is a hands-on role for someone who can lead activities, build strong relationships with children and families, and step in wherever the program needs support. You'll be part of a team that makes afternoons meaningful for local students—whether that means leading a game outside, helping with an art project, keeping attendance organized, or simply being a trusted adult in a child's day. What you'll do: As a Recreation Leader 2, you will help deliver engaging, well-organized childcare and recreation programs.
Responsibilities include:
Plan and lead age-appropriate recreation activities, games, arts and crafts, dance, drama, and other enrichment activities. Supervise and actively engage children during indoor and outdoor play, daycare, day camp, and special activities. Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants. Support Site Supervisors, Assistant Site Supervisors, and Senior Recreation Leaders with daily program operations. Assist with attendance records, activity setup, equipment movement, and light cleaning. Communicate professionally and positively with children, families, community members, and coworkers. Model age-appropriate behavior, language, professionalism, and sound judgment. Provide routine first aid for minor injuries and follow safety procedures. Help mentor and support Recreation Leader 1 staff. Chaperone field trips or special activities as needed. Attend all required trainings. Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. At least one year of related childcare experience. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with children, families, community members, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing. Ability to follow instructions, use sound judgment, and respond appropriately to routine situations. Reliable personal transportation required. Basic computer skills, including the ability to assist children with online instruction. CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire. Completion of all required trainings within 30 days of hire. Successful completion of fingerprinting and TB clearance requirements upon offer of employment.
