JOB SUMMARY
Lead one or more types of water exercise classes, including Aqua Zumba®
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Conduct safe and effective water exercise classes. 2. Monitor and instruct participants during aqua fitness training sessions. 3. Teach water exercise classes either indoors or outdoors. 4. Able to perform and demonstrate exercises and movements to participants. 5. Able to design and conduct water exercise classes to accommodate varying levels of fitness among individual participants within a single class. 6. Able to plan water routines and implement to music. 7. Clean and organize pool area after all classes. 8. Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Experience with the 55 and older population preferred. Able to physically exercise vigorously for up to two (2) hours consecutively. Above average knowledge of water weights, noodles, kickboards, stereo equipment, CD players, auxiliary cords, and Bluetooth technology.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBIITIES
None.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, jumping, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that weigh up to 25 pounds. Must be able to exercise in an enclosed area which can become humid and/or where temperatures can reach 72 degrees or more.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Group exercise and/or personal training certification from nationally recognized organization (ACE, NASM, AFFA, etc.) 2. Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification 3. Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. 4. Two (2) years previous experience teaching water fitness classes and/or land-based training required
SUCCESS FACTORS
1. High degree of participation based on specific instructor style 2. Substitute teach when available
NORMAL WORKING
HOURS and DAYS:
Part-time hours (days/hours will vary by class offering); rest breaks and 30-minute meal break if applicable; overtime as required.
Compensation:
