PTS Recreation Leader I / II City of Santa Clarita - 4.1 Santa Clarita, CA Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Seasonal $18.78 - $21.42 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Customer communication Employee relationship building First Aid Certification AED Certification Full Job Description Description/Duties and Responsibilities The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) Recreation Leaders to work directly with the public at the front counter of the Valencia Community Center. Under the leadership of the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator, this position will be responsible for assisting residents with their registration inquiries, collecting payments, and maintaining paperwork. This position may work up to 20 hours per week and must have the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Recreation Leader I $18.78 - $19.92 per hour Duties and Responsibilities Assists with front counter operations, including greeting residents and participants, answering phones and emails, and providing program and general information to visitors and callers Registers patrons for programs/classes using registration software; processes memberships in the recreation software system Maintains a professional attitude and provides excellent customer service to participants; answers inquiries; and effectively addresses issues and concerns with patrons as they arise Assists with various Community Center programs and events, including the summer and afterschool program, classes, special events, etc. Assists with organization, setup, and cleanup of facility; maintains facility equipment Tracks and files participant registration and transaction data each season Completes and updates various forms, calendars, logs, and reports Tracks, inventories, and organizes supplies Proofreads class/registration information and materials for use on website, brochure, flyers, etc. Collaborates with other program areas, as requested Attends meetings and training sessions at various City facilities, as needed Ensures safety of the site in accordance with emergency procedures and reports incidents/accidents; follows and enforces City policies Performs other activities and duties as directed by the Recreation Supervisor and Coordinators Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED or equivalent Six months of volunteer or paid experience in recreation, community services, customer service, or other related public service experience Completion of college courses is highly desirable Possession of, or ability to obtain within one month of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered Recreation Leader II $20.19 - $21.42 per hour Recreation Leader II includes all of the responsibilities of the Recreation Leader I, in addition to the following: Duties and Responsibilities Operates a cash register, handles cash and other tenders of payment, such as debit and credit cards; conducts the closeout process Processes refunds and transfers Manages program waitlists Reviews and proofreads the Seasons brochure for clarity, accuracy, and consistency Oversees facility opening and closing procedures Assists with training staff on registration functions Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED or equivalent One year of paid experience in recreation, community services, customer service, or other related public service experience Completion of college courses is highly desirable Possession of, or ability to obtain within one month of hire, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered Knowledge and Abilities Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to effectively respond to and address public questions Strong leadership and customer service skills; ability to serve as a role model to others Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively, both orally and in writing Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Demonstrates a reliable and responsible work ethic, patience and a proactive, can-do attitude Ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines and think creatively to solve problems effectively Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner Ability to travel to various City facilities, if necessary Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and the ability to learn the City's registration software system Ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds or more is required occasionally Additional Information

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program.
