Assists with class set-up, demonstrations, positive behavior guidance, and parent communication under the direction of senior staff, following YMCA policies and USA Gymnastics progressions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with participants and families. Assist with class set-up/breakdown; maintain clean, organized, and safe spaces; perform basic equipment checks. Teach foundational skills and shapes on floor and introductory apparatus using approved progressions and spotting within training level. Maintain active, visual supervision; reinforce rules and safety expectations; respond to incidents and complete required reports. Support positive communication with parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, and participant progress. Follow YMCA policies, emergency procedures, and mandated reporting/abuse-prevention protocols. Prior experience working with children in recreation or athletics preferred; gymnastics background a plus. Ability to demonstrate and teach entry-level skills safely; learns and applies USA Gymnastics progressions. Effective communicator and positive role model. Current CPR/AED/First Aid or ability to obtain within Association timeframe. The Gymnastics instructor 1 Teaches entry-level gymnastics skills with a focus on proper progressions and safety. Encourages participation, confidence, and fundamental movement patterns. Assists with class set-up, demonstrations, positive behavior guidance, and parent communication under the direction of senior staff, following YMCA policies and USA Gymnastics progressions.
