OVERVIEW
The group fitness instructor designs, leads, and motivates individuals through structured exercise sessions, ensuring safety and effectiveness for all fitness levels. Strong communication skills, knowledge of anatomy and exercise physiology, and relevant certifications (like CPR/First Aid) are essential for the role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Experience:
Design and execute safe, effective, and challenging classes for Boca West members providing instruction and inclusion for all fitness levels. Curate new playlists often that match the tempo and format of the class. Playlists should flow from one song to the next without interruption.
Studio Operations:
Arrive 10 minutes before class to queue up music and microphone to start class on time. Control the flow of members into and out of class, direct members on the set up for the class utilizing the equipment available, and general tidying of studio for organization and presentation after class.
Member Engagement:
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere by engaging with members throughout the class. Frequently check in with members during class and walk the space offering demonstrations of exercises.
Team Commitment:
Attend department meetings, participate in employee activities, when possible, be available and willing to sub. Must possess availability in schedule particularly November through May including weekends and holidays.
COMPETENCIES
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Must have a good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Passion for various group exercise classes and the fitness and wellness industry. Knowledge of exercise guidelines and ability to monitor heart rates and blood pressure readings. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and
TRAINING
Certified Group Fitness Instructor (ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent). CPR/AED Certification required. Preferably a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Fitness Instructor. The group fitness instructor designs, leads, and motivates individuals through structured exercise sessions, ensuring safety and effectiveness for all fitness levels. Strong communication skills, knowledge of anatomy and exercise physiology, and relevant certifications (like CPR/First Aid) are essential for the role.
