Job Description

The Fitness Instructor/personal trainer is the person with a passion for wellness and improving the overall physical fitness of our Residents. The Fitness Instructor is someone who can develop, organize and maintain an athletic and fitness program for our Residents in an effective, efficient and professional manner. Duties and Essential Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Advise Residents on issues related to fitness, using knowledge of fitness, exercise principles and major health risk factors. Promote the use of the facilities to our Residents Provide exceptional Customer Service by exceeding client's expectations and needs. Develop, implement and provide fitness services and programs to community members. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintain professional and technical knowledge about fitness and personal training by remaining current with trends in the industry. Develop and teach fitness programs that fit the needs of Resident and develop individualized fitness programs. Work with fellow staff members to ensure the cleanliness of fitness facilities. Assess the client's level of physical fitness and help them set and reach their fitness goals. Handle scheduling of personal training sessions for clients and help create workout incentive programs. Competencies Ability to communicate effectively with director and guests in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to effectively communicate and train in one-on-one, small group and large group situations. Needs to show initiative and passion to community members. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment The job operates outdoors in an aquatic setting within a residential community environment. Moderate noise level. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Fitness Instructor must be able stand in front of a group and demonstrate exercises safely and effectively and show modification when necessary. Must maintain good physical shape to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for client. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are determined at the property level. This schedule may change to accommodate the business needs of the company. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred but not required. Accredited personal training or group training certification required. Personal training or group training certification required. Must have current, valid CPR/AED certification 2+ years' experience in personal training or group fitness instruction. Ability to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for clients. Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate and train in one-on-one, small group and large group situations. Must successfully tailor programs to fit various age groups and fitness levels.
