General Manager Position Summary The Personal Training Director is responsible for the complete performance, growth, leadership, and profitability of the Personal Training Department at Athletica Health & Fitness - Naples. This is a highly sales-driven leadership position . The Personal Training Director must be able to sell, produce, lead, recruit, train, coach, and develop a successful personal training team . This individual owns the PT department and is expected to consistently generate new personal training business while maximizing opportunities within the existing membership base. This position requires someone with strong sales experience, leadership ability, urgency, excellent follow-up, and the ability to consistently produce results. The Personal Training Director will work extremely closely with the General Manager and Sales Manager to ensure that membership sales and personal training work together as one revenue-producing operation.
The expectation is simple:
Build the team. Build the calendar. Build relationships. Close business. Retain clients. Grow PT revenue. Personal Training Sales & Production The Personal Training Director is directly accountable for the sales and financial performance of the PT department.
Responsibilities include:
Meet and exceed established weekly and monthly PT sales goals. Consistently generate new personal training revenue. Conduct fitness consultations and assessments. Present personal training programs and packages confidently. Identify client needs and recommend appropriate training solutions. Overcome objections and confidently ask for the sale. Follow up with prospects who do not purchase immediately. Re-engage previous PT clients and missed opportunities. Generate referrals from current clients and members. Identify opportunities to upgrade or renew existing clients. Maintain a strong pipeline of potential PT clients. Know exactly where the department stands toward goal throughout the month. Develop an immediate action plan whenever production is behind goal. Production is a core expectation of this position. The PT Director cannot simply manage the department—they must be capable of personally generating business and teaching their team how to do the same. Ownership of the PT Department The Personal Training Director has direct responsibility for the overall operation of the Personal Training Department.

Hiring, Firing & Team Development The Personal Training Director is responsible for building and maintaining a strong team of personal trainers.
Responsibilities include:
Recruit qualified personal trainers. Interview potential candidates. Participate in and make recommendations regarding hiring decisions. Properly onboard new trainers. Train new hires on Athletica's standards, expectations, systems, sales process, and client experience. Establish clear performance expectations. Monitor trainer productivity and performance. Coach trainers who are struggling. Conduct performance conversations when expectations are not being met. Document performance issues appropriately. Work with the General Manager regarding disciplinary action and termination when necessary. Continuously recruit so the department maintains adequate staffing. Develop high-performing trainers and identify future leadership potential. The PT Director must be comfortable having difficult conversations and holding their team accountable for results. Calendar Management & Appointment Generation A successful PT department requires a full calendar. The Personal Training Director is responsible for ensuring there is a consistent pipeline of appointments, consultations, assessments, and sales opportunities. This includes training the front desk, sales team, trainers, and other appropriate staff on how to identify PT opportunities and properly book appointments onto the PT Director's calendar.
The PT Director will:
Train staff on how to introduce personal training. Teach employees how to identify potential PT clients. Create clear expectations around booking consultations. Monitor appointment volume. Confirm appointments. Follow up with no-shows. Reschedule cancelled appointments. Ensure new members are being introduced to the PT department. Work with the Sales Manager to create a seamless handoff from membership sales into PT. Hold appropriate staff accountable for supporting appointment generation. The PT Director should not sit and wait for appointments to appear. They are responsible for creating activity. Lead & Client Follow-Up Follow-up is a major responsibility of this position. The PT Director must consistently follow up with: New PT leads New members Completed consultations Prospects who did not purchase No-shows Cancelled appointments Current clients Clients approaching the end of their package Former clients Inactive clients Members who previously expressed interest in training Every reasonable opportunity should have a next step. The expectation is that leads do not disappear because nobody followed up. Client Retention & Renewals Selling the first package is only the beginning. The PT Director is responsible for creating a department where clients stay engaged and continue training.
Responsibilities include:
Monitor clients approaching the end of their training packages. Begin renewal conversations before packages expire. Track client engagement. Identify clients who have stopped attending consistently. Follow up with inactive clients. Address client concerns. Help trainers improve client relationships. Monitor cancellations and lost clients. Understand why clients are leaving. Develop strategies to improve PT retention. Encourage referrals and testimonials from satisfied clients. Trainer Performance & Accountability The PT Director is responsible for knowing the performance of every trainer.

Sessions completed Clients serviced Availability Schedule utilization New clients Client retention Renewals Referrals Sales activity Professionalism Attendance Member engagement Overall productivity Trainers who are struggling should receive coaching, direction, expectations, and follow-up. The PT Director should actively develop the team—not simply provide trainers with clients. Partnership With the General Manager The Personal Training Director will work closely with the General Manager to operate and grow the department. The PT Director should regularly communicate: PT sales performance Revenue Goal attainment Staffing needs Hiring Trainer performance Client concerns Scheduling issues Department challenges Opportunities for growth Retention Upcoming promotions Action plans when the department is behind goal The General Manager should never have to chase the PT Director to understand what is happening within the department. Communication, transparency, accountability, and solutions are expected. Partnership With Membership Sales Membership Sales and Personal Training must work together. The PT Director will work closely with the Sales Manager to ensure new members are properly introduced to PT opportunities. Together, they should create a process that moves members through: Membership Sale → PT Introduction → Appointment → Consultation → PT Sale → Training → Renewal → Referral The PT Director should also help educate the sales team on how to speak confidently about personal training and create excitement around the service. Marketing, Outreach & PT Lead Generation The PT Director is expected to create new opportunities rather than depending exclusively on leads generated by others.

PT challenges Fitness assessments Member workshops Transformation programs Referral campaigns Member engagement events Educational seminars Social media content Trainer spotlights Before-and-after success stories when appropriately authorized Community outreach Corporate wellness opportunities In-club promotions Partnerships with other departments The question should constantly be: "What can we do to create more PT opportunities?" Standards & Professionalism The Personal Training Director is responsible for maintaining high standards throughout the PT department.

Definition of Success A successful Personal Training Director owns the department like a business within the business. The calendar is full. Consultations are happening. Leads are being followed up with. Sales are closing. Revenue is growing. Clients are being retained. Renewals are happening. Trainers are producing. Underperformers are being coached. Great trainers are being recruited. New employees are properly onboarded. The Sales Team is feeding opportunities into PT. The General Manager knows exactly where the department stands. And when the department falls behind, the PT Director doesn't wait for someone else to fix it—they create a plan, generate activity, lead the team, and produce. Bottom Line The Personal Training Director owns Personal Training. They own the people, the calendar, the clients, the sales, the follow-up, the retention, and ultimately the results. This position is for a leader who can sell personally, teach others to sell, build a team, develop trainers, create opportunities, and consistently grow the Personal Training business at Athletica Health & Fitness - Naples.
