A Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor develops customized exercise and fitness programs for clients. Reviews health and fitness goals, teaches correct and safe exercise technique, monitors progress and provides encouragement for clients. Leads fitness and exercise classes at a community center, club or pool. Teaches aerobics, water, strength building or other exercises and maintains equipment.

Duties Include but not limited to: Design and deliver customized fitness programs tailored to people with a wide range of abilities and needs Provide one-on-one and small group training sessions with a strong focus on safety, inclusion, and encouragement Adapt exercises, equipment, and techniques to ensure accessibility and effectiveness Track client progress and celebrate milestones, both big and small Collaborate with caregivers, families, and (when appropriate) healthcare providers Foster a positive, respectful, and motivating training environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education or a related field A Certified Adaptive Personal Trainer (or must be obtained within 3 months of hiring) Experience in personal and group training (at least 3 years) Must hold a current personal training certification Perform physical activities such as: lifting, pushing and pulling Experience working with people with disabilities is highly preferred Demonstrate sound time management and dependability Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Knowledge of adaptive fitness techniques and inclusive training practices Background in kinesiology, adaptive physical education, occupational therapy, or related fields Experience working with people with developmental disabilities Basic Computer Skills A genuine passion for helping others succeed
