A Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor develops customized exercise and fitness programs for clients. Reviews health and fitness goals, teaches correct and safe exercise technique, monitors progress and provides encouragement for clients. Leads fitness and exercise classes at a community center, club or pool. Teaches aerobics, water, strength building or other exercises and maintains equipment.

Job Description

Teach a variety of one or more group fitness classes including, but not limited to aerobics, step, cycling, yoga, Pilates and kick boxing. Ensure the safety of class participants and promote an effective, well-balanced group program. Understand and enforce rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons and facility emergency procedures. Respond to public needs in a courteous manner and report comments/complaints regarding facility, staff or patrons to Fitness Director.

Current certification in CPR/PR, First Aid, ACSM, ACE or AFAA, ICSA or the equivalent preferred but not required. Good communication skills. Previous experience in teaching preferred.
