Newark, CA Lab Informatics Lead Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Lab Informatics Lead with proven experience implementing, administering, and supporting Labguru's ELN, SDMS, and LIMS in a discovery research environment. This role will be responsible for translating laboratory workflows into effective informatics solutions, providing day-to-day application administration and user support, and ensuring the successful operation and evolution of discovery laboratory systems. The ideal candidate will act as the bridge between Discovery scientists, IT, and software vendors to maximize the value of lab informatics platforms while supporting data integrity, operational efficiency, and scientific innovation. This is an onsite position with 4 days per week in our Newark, CA office.
Key Responsibilities:
. Partner with Discovery scientists, IT, and external vendors to understand and document laboratory workflows, gather business requirements, and translate those requirements into practical laboratory informatics solutions, not just limited to ELN, SDMS or LIMS. . Lead the implementation, configuration, administration, validation, maintenance, and support of laboratory informatics systems, including ELN, SDMS, and LIMS platforms, with a primary focus on Labguru. . Serve as the primary system administrator for lab informatics platforms, managing user access, roles, permissions, templates, workflows, configurations, troubleshooting, and ongoing user support. Coordinate with software vendors, internal stakeholders, and project teams to manage system deployments, upgrades, enhancements, issue resolution, and lifecycle management activities. . Provide training, onboarding, and user guidance to promote adoption and effective use of laboratory informatics systems across Discovery research groups. . Support laboratory instrument integrations, scientific data exchange, data migration activities, and system interoperability across laboratory applications. . Ensure scientific data integrity, traceability, consistency, and governance across laboratory informatics platforms. . Collaborate with IT infrastructure and security teams to ensure reliable system performance, appropriate access controls, backup and recovery processes, and adherence to company security standards. . Support the development of standardized, well-structured scientific data foundations that enable reporting, analytics, and future Al/ML initiatives. Lab Informatics Lead -
Discovery Lab Systems Required Qualifications:
. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. . 6-8+ years of hands-on lab informatics experience supporting discovery or R D organizations within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environments. . Direct hands-on experience implementing, configuring, administering, maintaining, and supporting Labguru (or similar platform). This is a critical requirement. . Strong understanding of discovery laboratory workflows, experiment management, scientific data capture, sample tracking, and research data management. . Demonstrated experience administering enterprise laboratory applications, including user management, permissions, workflows, configurations, troubleshooting, and training. . Experience partnering with scientists, IT teams, and software vendors to deliver and support laboratory informatics solutions. . Working knowledge of underlying application databases, data models, and data management concepts, including access controls, backup/recovery principles, and data security practices. . Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
