Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A full-time retail pharmacist position is available on a contract basis starting July 13 for a 3-month assignment. This role requires floating between multiple pharmacy locations within Iowa, including Dubuque, Preston, Bellevue, Independence, and Monticello. The primary work location will be in Epworth, IA, with travel necessary to support various sites. Shifts are primarily first shift Monday through Friday, with occasional half-day Saturdays as needed. Working hours range from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The pharmacy uses McKesson Enterprise software for operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense medications accurately, ensuring safe and efficient delivery under the supervision of the manager. Counsel patients regarding medication use and therapy regimens. Address patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints in line with organizational policies. Maintain stock levels and manage controlled drug records and inventories. Resolve patient medication issues and clarify insurance and third-party coverage matters.
Qualifications:
Active and clear Iowa pharmacist license. Minimum of 1 year of retail pharmacy experience. Ability to work comfortably in a high-volume pharmacy environment; the busiest site fills approximately 2,800 to 3,000 prescriptions weekly, while other rural sites handle around 600 prescriptions per week. Flexibility and willingness to travel between multiple pharmacy locations within Iowa.
