POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Pharmacist plays an essential role in providing safe, effective, and patient-centered medication management across the hospital. Responsibilities include reviewing and accurately dispensing medications, monitoring drug therapies, evaluating medication appropriateness, providing drug information, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
The pharmacist will:
Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, interactions, dosing, and therapeutic considerations. Dispense medications safely and efficiently. Prepare and oversee parenteral and enteral medications. Monitor patient drug therapies and make appropriate recommendations. Provide medication and drug information to patients and healthcare professionals. Ensure the right patient receives the right medication at the appropriate dose and time. Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel as needed. Participate in maintaining medication safety and quality standards. Provide pharmacy services to patients across the lifespan, from neonatal through geriatric populations. Assume additional pharmacy leadership responsibilities when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) degree Current Illinois Pharmacist License or Letter of Authority issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Strong written and verbal communication skills Commitment to patient safety and high-quality pharmaceutical care Preferred Previous hospital pharmacy experience Experience with inpatient medication management and clinical pharmacy services Strong ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
