Duties Dispense prescription medications accurately while adhering to all legal and safety standards. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy and optimize treatment outcomes. Provide expert consultation on medication management, including drug interactions, side effects, and proper administration techniques. Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and modify individualized care plans, especially in critical care and LTC (Long-Term Care) settings. Manage pharmacy inventory efficiently, including compounding medications and controlling stock levels to prevent shortages or wastage. Administer immunizations and perform medication administration procedures following aseptic techniques and medical protocols. Utilize pharmacy software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for documentation, prescription processing, and patient data management. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Participate in medical management activities such as pain management protocols, IV infusion preparation, and acute care procedures. Support pharmacy technician staff by overseeing workflow, training on pharmacy operations, and maintaining high standards of patient service. Requirements Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the practicing state or region. Proven experience in LTC pharmacy, critical care environments, or hospital settings is highly preferred. Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, pediatrics, and immunizations. Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, compounding medications, and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with inventory management practices and IV insertion procedures. Ability to perform patient assessments effectively while demonstrating excellent communication skills for patient service roles. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Prior experience working with pharmacy technicians and supporting team collaboration in fast-paced clinical environments.
