  • Temp-to-hire A pharmacist role is available in a retail compounding environment requiring strong expertise in sterile and non-sterile pharmacy compounding.
This position focuses on ensuring clinical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance related to compounded prescriptions according to USP standards and state/federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide pharmacist oversight for sterile and non-sterile compounding operations. Verify compounded and commercially available prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, safety, accuracy, and labeling completeness. Ensure compliance with USP standards, pharmacy laws, company SOPs, and quality systems. Demonstrate and enforce sterile cleanroom best practices including aseptic technique and contamination control. Oversee pharmacy personnel involved in sterile compounding and maintain training and competency documentation. Review compounding records, quality-control data, logs, and other required documentation. Support environmental and personnel monitoring, media-fill testing, and cleaning/disinfection programs. Identify, document, and resolve deviations, quality events, complaints, and compliance concerns. Assist in SOP development, implementation, and continuous improvement. Help maintain inspection readiness and support regulatory inspections and licensing reviews. Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, leadership, prescribers, and telehealth partners for efficient workflow. Provide patient counseling and communicate with prescribers for clinical clarifications or interventions. Adapt to evolving staffing needs, workflows, technology, and prescription volumes.
Required Qualifications:
Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in Maryland, or for California-licensed applicants, willingness and eligibility to obtain California licensure including passing the CPJE within 120 days. Extensive recent experience in sterile compounding and USP-compliant pharmacy operations. Thorough knowledge of pharmacy laws, USP standards, and professional practices. Exceptional attention to detail and disciplined documentation skills. Ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks proactively. Strong independent work capability paired with collaborative attitude. Sound judgment and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
