Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Licensed Overnight Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will oversee pharmacy operations during overnight shifts, ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications. You will play a key role in patient care by providing expert pharmaceutical services, managing medication inventories, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Your expertise will help maintain the highest quality of service and safety for our diverse patient population across hospital, community, and LTC (Long-Term Care) settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to practice clinical pharmacy at its best while supporting patient health around the clock. Duties Dispense prescription medications accurately while adhering to state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy, including pediatrics and acute care cases. Manage pharmacy inventory, including compounding medications using aseptic techniques and USP 797 standards for sterile preparations. Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance by maintaining documentation in Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Provide clinical support by participating in medical management, pain management, immunizations, and medication administration protocols. Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care through medication therapy reviews and drug regulation adherence. Maintain strict confidentiality policies such as HIPAA, ensuring patient information is protected at all times. Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff during overnight hours to ensure smooth operations. Handle emergency situations with basic life support skills, including IV insertion and infusion management when necessary. Stay updated on pharmacy operations, healthcare compliance standards, and new pharmaceutical developments to deliver top-tier patient service. Skills Extensive experience in critical care, hospital pharmacy, or LTC pharmacy environments with a focus on acute care scenarios. Proven ability to practice as a pharmacist with strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology principles. Skilled in managing pharmacy teams effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment. Proficient in pharmacy software systems such as
PIS, EMR
(Electronic Medical Records), and EHR platforms for accurate data entry and medication tracking. Demonstrated expertise in compounding medications using aseptic techniques following USP 797 guidelines. Strong understanding of drug regulation laws, healthcare compliance policies, and clinical confidentiality standards like HIPAA. Experience with immunizations administration and patient communication to enhance client service quality. Familiarity with inventory management practices including IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding procedures. Knowledge of basic life support protocols and emergency response procedures in healthcare settings. Ability to interpret medical management plans for pediatrics and adult patients across diverse clinical environments.
