Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract This opportunity is for an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) or Staff Pharmacist to provide leadership and comprehensive pharmacy services within a well-established psychiatric facility. The role is based in the Houston metro area and focuses on ensuring smooth operation and compliance within the pharmacy department.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge overseeing daily pharmacy operations and staff. Manage and coordinate pharmacy staffing, including technicians and PRN pharmacists. Ensure compliance with Texas pharmacy laws and regulations. Maintain accurate and timely order entry using the HCS system; training provided. Support medication dispensing and clinical reviews for psych specialty patients. Provide occasional weekend and on-call coverage as needed to ensure service continuity. Qualifications /
Desired Experience:
Active Texas Pharmacist license required. Experience in a Pharmacist in Charge or Staff Pharmacist role preferred. Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, policies, and best practices. Familiarity with psychiatric pharmacy services is a plus. Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians and other support staff. Effective communication and organizational skills.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Weekend shifts (8:00 AM to 2:30 PM) may be required if per diem coverage is unavailable. On-call duties might be necessary to cover staffing gaps. This position is a contract opportunity lasting 8 to 12 weeks with a start date as soon as possible. Preference will be given to candidates local to the Houston area, but flexibility to work onsite in Tomball, TX is essential.
