Job Description
Primary Purpose:
To assist the Finance department in the efficient operations of the department to ensure proper preparation and processing of payroll as it relates to a quality environment for our employees.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
Three years accounting/budgeting and secretarial experience
Special Knowledge and Skills:
High level of proficiency in applied technology (keyboard, email, spreadsheets, word processing, multimedia, internet, databases)
Computer proficiency in FinancePlus payroll preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide outstanding customer service and ability to work with diverse groups
Maintain high level of integrity and confidentiality regarding salaries and employee records
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Payroll Preparation
Establish and maintain all salary data, budget accounts, job class, pay codes, check location and other data
Set up/process new hire, transfer, promotions in payroll data base for all employees
Record new year data for employees in the personnel budgeting process
Process and record employee salary and stipend changes
Prepare employee salary confirmations
Calculate salaries for new employees
Compute and record salary changes resulting from transfers and upgrades affecting employee positions
Maintain the FinancePlus system data for employee records
Complete salary surveys as needed
Counsel with employees and supervisors concerning leave benefits and provide employees with accurate information on deductions from pay relating to absences, medical certification requirements, return-to-work dates, etc.
Work cooperatively with payroll department and risk management to process and coordinate all employee leaves and absences, including those relating to workers' compensation claims
Interface with administrators, principals, directors, and district employees regarding payroll-related issues. Assist with the equitable resolution of complaints, concerns, and problems in the area of payroll/personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain technical training on new software.

Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching. Occasional lifting and moving of moderate to heavy objects. Repetitive hand motions. Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
