Job Description

Who we are: Jim's Pharmacy & Home Health is an independent, locally-owned Pharmacy in beautiful Port Angeles, Wa. You can catch a 45-minute ferry ride across the Straits of Juan De Fuca to Victoria, B.C. and we are within a 30-minute drive from two large lake with public access for boating, kayaking. We are surrounded by the Olympic mountains with hiking and biking trails and the ocean is less than a mile away if you enjoy clamming, crabbing or fishing! It's a perfect place for the outdoor enthusiast. Since 1983, our Pharmacy has served the community of Port Angeles and its surrounding areas with pharmaceuticals. But that's not all, we are much more than a drugstore. Jim's also provides durable medical supplies & equipment, as well as unique gifts and specialty foods & candies in our Gift Shop. Our staff of over 30 employees help support our community's non-profit organizations, local hospitals, schools and sporting/recreational venues all year with fundraising activities. As an independent retail Pharmacy, it allows our Pharmacist's to truly practice pharmacy, an integral part of our customers healthcare. We offer compounding, special packaging options for long term care facilities, immunizations including travel vaccines and off-site vaccine clinics, COVID testing, medsync, free deliveries within the city limits and offer an opportunity to be involved in the education of DMSE courses through our Cammack's Clinical Services.

Job Classification:

Full time Staff Pharmacist. Mon - Friday, rotating weekend shifts, rotating on-call after hours service. Staff Pharmacists fill orders for drugs, monitor patient drug therapies and provide drug information. Staff Pharmacists supervise and direct supportive personnel. In the absence of the Pharmacist-In-Charge, a Staff Pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform their duties. Interpret common pharmaceutical literature. Interprets, prepares and dispenses drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures and protocols. Reviews all orders for diagnosis, allergies, duplications, and interactions. Monitors for medication errors and adverse drug reactions and documents accordingly. Complies and enforces all pharmacy laws and standards of practice. Assists in all areas of the pharmacy with the ability to identify tasks that need to be done while maintaining the daily workflow of the department, giving direction to the support staff when needed. Participation in the hiring process if needed. Listens carefully to customers to interpret their needs/issues and offers information and advice. COVID testing & vaccinations. Participate in Provider Services. Perform MTM's. Inventory control & CII logging/receiving and ordering.

Rotating shifts which include:

Mon - Friday 8-5pm/9-6pm/10-7pm, Saturdays 9-5pm/Sun. 1130-4pm with split days off when scheduled for the weekend. Work rotation of on-call after hours. Rotating weekends

Job Requirements:
Education, training, experience:
Education:

This person requires a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy Currently licensed to practice and hold a WA state Pharmacist License in good standing.

Certified Immunizer Experience:

Compounding pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.

Skills:

Able to respond professionally to common inquiries and customer complaints. Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Able to work cooperatively with pharmacy staff. Able to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Able to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests. Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to new team members. Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Able to meet the pharmaceutical needs of all patient age groups.
