Job Description

Community Pharmacist - Part-Time to
Full Time Locations:
Sedro-Woolley and Anacortes, Washington Schedule:
Typically three to four days per week, with approximately two shifts in Sedro-Woolley and two shifts in Anacortes. The schedule and location mix may vary based on patient volume and coverage needs. Current operating hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Pay:
$65.00-$70.00 per hour Benefits and additional compensation: 401k with matching. About the Position Schaffner Pharmacy is seeking a personable, clinically minded pharmacist who combines excellent patient care with strong operational and leadership skills. We are looking for a hands-on leader who sets the pace through their own example. The right pharmacist stays engaged in the workflow, anticipates what patients and coworkers need, and willingly steps into any part of the operation when help is needed. They bring positive energy, sound judgment, personal accountability, and their best effort to every shift. This position is ideal for a pharmacist who wants to practice beyond traditional prescription verification while remaining grounded in the fundamentals of outstanding community pharmacy. Our practice includes traditional retail prescriptions, immunizations, patient counseling, provider collaboration, and personalized nonsterile compounded therapies. Prior compounding experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train an accomplished community pharmacist who has the curiosity, aptitude, and commitment to develop expertise in this area. Across both locations, we continually look for ways to improve our care, strengthen our operations, and become a better pharmacy tomorrow than we are today. What You'll Do Lead day-to-day pharmacy operations during assigned shifts, establishing clear priorities and helping the team maintain an efficient, patient-centered workflow Review, verify, and dispense traditional and compounded prescriptions accurately and safely Provide thoughtful, individualized counseling for prescription medications, compounded therapies, immunizations, adherence, and medication safety Apply strong clinical judgment through drug utilization review, allergy and interaction screening, therapeutic assessment, and problem-solving Assess, administer, document, and educate patients about recommended vaccines Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other team members during dispensing, compounding, immunization, and retail activities Oversee nonsterile compounding activities in accordance with pharmacy policies and applicable professional standards Participate directly in compounding activities when workflow or patient needs require it Communicate with prescribers about formulations, dosage forms, dose adjustments, therapeutic alternatives, vaccine recommendations, and other clinical questions Perform calculations involving formulas, concentrations, quantities, dosing, and beyond-use dates Maintain complete and accurate patient, prescription, immunization, and compounding documentation Support quality assurance, medication safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement efforts Help strengthen and grow our traditional prescription, immunization, clinical care, and compounding services Contribute to a professional, supportive workplace in which everyone is willing to help wherever needed What Success Looks Like A successful pharmacist in this role: Places excellent patient care at the center of every decision Leads from within the workflow and never considers any necessary task beneath them Recognizes emerging needs and takes action without waiting to be asked Remains composed, accurate, and solutions-oriented when the pharmacy becomes busy Communicates expectations clearly and treats patients, providers, and coworkers with respect Takes ownership of problems and follows them through to resolution Brings consistent effort, positive energy, and attention to detail to every shift Helps the entire team work more smoothly and effectively Looks for practical ways to improve patient care and pharmacy operations Opportunities for Professional Growth The pharmacist in this role will have opportunities to develop or expand expertise in: Independent community pharmacy practice Pharmacy workflow and small-team leadership Immunization assessment and administration Nonsterile compounding Hormone replacement therapy Dermatologic and veterinary compounding Low-dose naltrexone and other customized therapies Patient-specific dosage-form selection Provider consultation and therapeutic problem-solving Development of community-based clinical services Required Qualifications Active Washington State pharmacist license in good standing Current BLS certification at the time of employment Strong community pharmacy and prescription-verification skills Sound clinical and operational judgment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong mathematical ability and attention to detail Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care Ability and willingness to work scheduled shifts at both locations Preferred Qualifications Experience in independent community pharmacy Experience leading pharmacy workflow or supervising a pharmacy team Vaccine assessment and administration experience Prior nonsterile compounding experience Experience with hormone replacement therapy or other personalized therapies Confidence communicating with prescribers and other healthcare professionals Interest in developing clinical services and growing an independent pharmacy practice Work Environment We offer a professional, collaborative, and intellectually engaging practice environment.
