Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Pharmacy Manager to lead our pharmacy operations in West Hartford. Duties Lead and manage all aspects of pharmacy operations, including inventory control, medication dispensing, and workflow optimization. Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, to ensure high-quality patient service and adherence to clinical protocols. Oversee patient assessments, medication therapy management, and clinical interventions to promote optimal health outcomes. Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, USP 797 standards for sterile compounding, HIPAA confidentiality policies, and other healthcare regulations. Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate medication administration, immunizations, pain management strategies, and acute care services. Maintain accurate documentation within Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other EMR systems for seamless patient care. Manage pharmacy workflows involving compounding medications, aseptic techniques, IV infusions, and drug regulation adherence. Conduct regular audits on inventory management, pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, and safety protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requirements. Foster a culture of exceptional customer service by engaging with patients directly to address inquiries and provide medication education. Stay updated on evolving healthcare compliance standards including USP 797 guidelines for sterile preparations and drug regulation policies. Experience Proven experience managing pharmacy operations within community or LTC (Long-Term Care) settings with a focus on clinical pharmacy practices. Critical care experience or hospital/acute care background highly preferred; familiarity with hospital EMR/EHR systems is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to lead pharmacy teams effectively while ensuring adherence to medical management protocols. Extensive knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology principles, and medical terminology necessary for comprehensive patient assessment. Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems such as PIS or similar platforms used for medication dispensing and inventory control. Strong understanding of state and federal pharmacy laws related to drug regulation, immunizations, HIPAA compliance, and healthcare privacy policies. Experience in managing sterile compounding (USP 797), aseptic techniques, IV insertion/infusion procedures, and basic life support (BLS) certification is essential. Prior roles involving immunizations administration, pain management strategies, or practicing as a licensed pharmacist in diverse healthcare environments are highly valued.
