This position provides leadership to the pharmacy team, supports staff development, maintains compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and helps ensure the pharmacy operates according to company standards and procedures. The Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager serves as a leader within the pharmacy and is responsible for creating a positive, professional, and patient-focused environment. The ideal candidate leads by example, communicates effectively, develops their team, and takes ownership of the pharmacy's overall performance and patient experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pharmacy Operations & Patient Care Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient workflow. Review and dispense prescriptions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards. Provide counseling and medication-related information to patients as appropriate. Ensure prescriptions are processed and filled accurately and efficiently. Monitor pharmacy workflow and make adjustments as needed to maintain appropriate service levels. Ensure patients receive friendly, professional, and compassionate service. Address patient concerns and work to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner. Support medication adherence, medication synchronization, immunizations, and other patient-care programs. Collaborate with healthcare providers when necessary to support patient care. Team Leadership & Staff Management Lead, supervise, and support pharmacy technicians, clerks, and other pharmacy staff. Establish clear expectations for employees and hold team members accountable for meeting company standards. Train and coach employees on pharmacy procedures, customer service, workflow, and company expectations. Assist with onboarding and training new employees. Provide regular feedback and communicate performance concerns to appropriate leadership. Participate in employee performance evaluations and development. Recognize and encourage strong employee performance. Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and a positive work environment. Ensure adequate staffing and communicate staffing needs to corporate leadership. Help manage employee schedules and approve or communicate schedule changes as appropriate. Serve as a resource and mentor for pharmacy staff. Compliance & Quality Assurance Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations. Ensure the pharmacy maintains appropriate records and documentation. Follow and enforce company policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy requirements. Ensure controlled substances are handled, stored, documented, and dispensed appropriately. Monitor prescription accuracy and implement corrective action when necessary. Report medication errors, compliance concerns, safety issues, and other significant incidents promptly. Participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. Ensure required licenses, registrations, certifications, and training are maintained. Stay current on changes to pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards. Inventory & Purchasing Oversee medication and pharmacy supply inventory. Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs. Ensure medications are received, stored, rotated, and handled appropriately. Monitor expiration dates and assist with medication recalls, returns, and inventory adjustments. Help control inventory costs and minimize waste. Ensure controlled substance inventory procedures are followed. Work with corporate leadership and vendors as needed regarding medication availability and purchasing. Insurance & Billing Assist staff with resolving insurance claim issues and complex billing situations. Provide guidance on prior authorizations, rejected claims, and third-party billing issues. Monitor pharmacy workflow related to insurance processing and reimbursement. Work with pharmacy staff to identify recurring billing or workflow problems. Assist with Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payer requirements as applicable. Customer Service & Community Relations Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and caregivers. Handle difficult customer situations professionally and seek appropriate resolutions. Promote the pharmacy's commitment to personalized, community-based care. Maintain a welcoming and professional pharmacy environment. Support pharmacy programs, community events, and outreach initiatives as assigned. Represent J Gross Pharmacy Group professionally within the community. Administrative Responsibilities Communicate regularly with corporate leadership regarding pharmacy operations, staffing, performance, and concerns. Complete required reports, documentation, and administrative tasks accurately and on time. Monitor pharmacy performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Participate in manager meetings and company initiatives. Assist with implementation of new policies, procedures, technology, and workflow changes. Ensure the pharmacy follows company operational standards. Identify operational challenges and work with leadership to develop solutions. Maintain a patient-first mindset while balancing operational responsibilities. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

D.) or equivalent pharmacy degree. Current, unrestricted Michigan Pharmacist License. Current, unrestricted Michigan Controlled Substance License. Ability to meet all applicable state and federal requirements to practice pharmacy. Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and applicable regulations. Strong leadership and communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced community pharmacy environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous pharmacy management or supervisory experience. Previous experience in a community or retail pharmacy. Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and support staff. Experience with pharmacy management systems. Experience with inventory management and purchasing. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance billing. Immunization certification and experience providing immunizations. Lift and carry pharmacy supplies and medication packages. Perform repetitive tasks such as typing, counting, labeling, and computer entry. Use computers, telephones, scanners, and other pharmacy equipment. Communicate effectively with patients, employees, healthcare providers, and leadership. Work Environment This position works in a retail community pharmacy environment with regular interaction with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, pharmacy staff, vendors, and company leadership. The Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager must be able to effectively balance patient care, employee management, regulatory responsibilities, and daily pharmacy operations while maintaining a professional and positive environment.
