Job Description
Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract Advance your pharmacy leadership career with a rewarding role directing inpatient pharmacy services at a well-established healthcare facility in Missouri. This contract position offers the opportunity to lead a focused team of pharmacists and technicians within a diverse clinical environment, spanning specialties such as orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, adult behavioral health, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all inpatient pharmacy operations, including managing a team of 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs. Develop schedules for pharmacy staff and collaborate with procurement to address medication supply challenges. Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee—setting agendas, conducting meetings, and implementing approved initiatives. Participate in multiple medical staff committees and quality improvement meetings, including COPD readmission reduction. Facilitate monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles to ensure seamless communication. Manage controlled substance orders twice weekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis user access. Potentially support sterile compounding during staffing shortages.Qualifications and Experience:
Active Missouri pharmacist license and Medication Therapy Services certification. Proven inpatient pharmacy experience, preferably with Meditech Expanse order entry system familiarity, especially drug dictionary management. Strong leadership and organizational skills to coordinate multidisciplinary committee work and daily operations. Comfortable working within a Joint Commission survey environment, with commitment to quality and compliance.Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No on-call duties, but expected to be a resource for pharmacy staff questions and concerns.Professional Perks:
