POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy or the Registered Pharmacist and according to standard procedures, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the primary engineering control; types labels; fills patient medication drawers; prepares and files charge slips; and performs other related duties. The ratio of pharmacy technicians to pharmacists performing all duties within the pharmacy technician job description does not exceed 2:1. The Pharmacy Department serves patients of all age and developmental levels. The Pharmacy Tech must demonstrate skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of patients throughout the life span, be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect, and be cognizant of safety issues (both environmental and medical).

REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate with basic computer skills. Certified as Pharmacy Technicians by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Ability to read and write, able to file alphabetically and numerically. Previous hospital experience highly preferred.

Estimated pay is based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
