Responsibilities Assist pharmacists with medication dispensing, preparation, and distribution while adhering to all pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards. Perform data entry accurately into pharmacy software systems, managing patient records and medication orders efficiently. Prepare sterile IV infusions and compounded medications using aseptic techniques and sterile IV admixture procedures. Support patient service activities by answering queries, managing intake processes, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, and hospital or community pharmacy protocols. Conduct pharmaceutical calculations for medication dosages, ensuring accuracy in all medication administration processes. Maintain inventory levels of medications and supplies, including controlled substances, while adhering to pharmaceutical regulations. Support hospital or LTC pharmacy operations by managing drug regulation documentation, assisting with medication reconciliation, and supporting clinical pharmacy initiatives. Qualifications Proven pharmacy technician experience in hospital, LTC pharmacy, or community pharmacy environments. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and acute care procedures. Experience with pharmacy software systems and data entry tasks required for efficient workflow management. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred; relevant state healthcare certifications are a plus. Familiarity with pharmaceutical calculations, sterile compounding techniques, IV infusion preparation, and aseptic techniques essential for success. Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws governing medication handling and distribution is required. Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care and maintaining patient confidentiality. Ability to work accurately under pressure in fast-paced settings such as hospital or critical care units.
