Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our growing healthcare team. In this role, you will work closely with pharmacists to prepare and dispense medications, maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, and provide exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate has experience in long-term care (LTC), hospital, or retail pharmacy settings and is committed to accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety. Responsibilities Assist pharmacists with the preparation, dispensing, and verification of prescription medications. Perform pharmaceutical calculations and medication preparation accurately. Prepare sterile IV admixtures using proper aseptic techniques (if applicable). Maintain medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, expiration monitoring, and proper storage. Enter prescription and patient information accurately into pharmacy management systems. Process insurance claims and resolve prescription-related issues when necessary. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA requirements. Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients and answering general medication-related questions within the technician scope of practice. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy workspace. Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. Qualifications Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required. Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician license/registration in good standing. Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience required. Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC), hospital, or retail pharmacy preferred. Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and HIPAA compliance. Experience with pharmacy management software and electronic prescription processing. Strong mathematical and pharmaceutical calculation skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and customer service abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
