Job DescriptionUnder the supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will:

Process and distribute prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to patients at dischargeEnter prescription data into the computer system and maintain accurate records in compliance with pharmacy standardsHandle patient payments and process billing transactions, including insurance verification and prior authorization requestsStock, organize, and maintain pharmacy inventory with attention to expiration dates and proper storage conditionsCommunicate and interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff, including nursing and discharge planning teamsProvide basic medication counseling and patient education under pharmacist supervision, ensuring patients understand proper medication usageVerify prescription accuracy and completeness prior to patient pickup, flagging any discrepancies for pharmacist reviewCoordinate with clinical departments to ensure timely medication availability for patient dischargeHandle controlled substances and other restricted medications in accordance with state and federal regulations Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Minimum of six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

Requires valid State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.
