Job Description

Pharmacy Technician - Staging Job Description The Pharmacy Technician - Staging supports prescription fulfillment operations by accurately preparing medication orders for pharmacist review in a closed-door pharmacy setting. This role focuses on selecting, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications while maintaining an organized, compliant, and efficient work environment in line with all applicable pharmacy regulations. Responsibilities Stage bulk medications for the fulfillment area to ensure efficient processing of orders. Prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and efficiency. Process daily medication orders in a timely manner while following established priorities, workflows, and standard operating procedures. Assist with returned medications, including proper sorting, recycling, or disposal according to pharmacy policy and regulatory requirements. Support the pre-packaging of high-volume medications during slower order periods, including accurate labeling and restocking of inventory. Package medications and related materials by hand as required to meet shipping and quality standards. Follow all applicable federal and state regulations, including HIPAA guidelines and pharmacy practice standards. Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked workstations at all times to support safe and efficient operations. Notify the supervising pharmacist promptly of any issues such as scanning errors, product discrepancies, or potential safety concerns. Adhere to departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code. Be available to work overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts as business needs require. Perform other duties as assigned based on operational and patient care needs. Essential Skills Experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare environment with an understanding of prescription workflows. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Pharmacy technician certification, demonstrating foundational knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication handling. Proficiency with data entry, including accurate input of prescription and patient information into pharmacy systems. Familiarity with prior authorization processes and related pharmacy benefit procedures. Ability to follow detailed procedures and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA requirements. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when selecting, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. High school diploma or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications MN Pharmacy Technician license preferred. Previous experience in a closed-door or mail-order pharmacy environment is beneficial. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a pharmacy team and take direction from pharmacists and supervisors. Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain a clean, orderly, and well-stocked workspace. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support business demands. Work Environment This position operates in a closed-door pharmacy environment on the second shift, working Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. The role involves standing for extended periods, handling and packaging medications, and working at computer-based workstations for data entry and scanning tasks. The pharmacy follows established safety, attendance, and dress code policies, and maintains a clean, organized, and compliant facility that adheres to all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA. The work environment is structured and process-driven, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork to support timely and secure medication fulfillment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
