Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician include compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the facility. Pharmacy Technicians work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a licensed pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital's customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES 1.
Receives prescriptions from customers; types, fills and dispenses the prescriptions. 2. Maintains pharmacy and OTCs drug storage areas. 3. Performs the point of service (POS). 4. Participates in inventory control activities. 5. Assists with pharmacy communication. 6. Demonstrates willingness to cooperate with department staffing needs. 7. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Pharmacy Technician training is required. Typing and computer skills are required. Certification/Registration Registration through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Work Schedule Requires working 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with one 30-minute meal break, or two 15-minute meal breaks instead if the employee chooses to split these. Before starting any break, notify the House Supervisor and give the estimated time of the break being taken so that interruption will be minimized. The rotation and coverage . Requires participation in "on-call" availability. Physical Demands May require standing for long periods. Bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, lifting, sitting (maintain static posture for computer use). Working Conditions May be exposed to potentially hazardous and toxic substances. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Work is performed both inside and outside working areas with exposure to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment. Working at heights, being around moving machinery, exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.Education:
