Job Description

Job Title:
Pharmacy Technician Reports to:
Pharmacy Manager or Staff RPh Job Summary:
The pharmacy technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in the day-to-day operations of a pharmacy, including processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and providing customer service to patients. The pharmacy technician must comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice.
Responsibilities:
Process prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner, including entering prescription information into the pharmacy's computer system, counting and packaging medications, and labeling prescriptions with patient information Manage inventory levels of medications, ordering medications as necessary and ensuring that inventory is properly rotated and stored Verify insurance coverage for patients and process insurance claims Provide excellent customer service to patients, including answering questions about medications and providing medication counseling as directed by the pharmacist Maintain patient records and ensure that all required documentation is complete and accurate Meet and exceed Pharmacy growth KPIs Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and in good working order Participate in training and continuing education programs to maintain and improve professional skills Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice
Qualifications:
2+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience in retail setting LTC and Blister packaging experience preferred Bilingual (Spanish) preferred Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or equivalent experience Active pharmacy technician certification or registration in the state where the pharmacy is located Strong communication skills and ability to provide excellent customer service Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and software Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers Knowledge of laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice
