Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Job Type Contract Certified Pharmacy Technician - Contract Position in Roanoke, VA A 13-week contract opportunity (with possible extension or temp-to-hire) is available for a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations within an office setting. This role requires a detail-oriented, professional technician who can efficiently handle prescription processing, insurance adjudications, and inventory management while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Schedule & Location:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Roanoke, VA Start date: Approximately 2 weeks post-offer acceptance
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately process prescriptions, manage insurance adjudications, and resolve claim rejections Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification Perform data entry and manage prescription paperwork; communicate effectively with patients and prescribers Maintain inventory through daily cycle counts, restocking, and reviewing medication expiration dates Assist with medication returns, quarantines, and destruction processes as needed Cross-train in various pharmacy functions to support department workflow Ensure full compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations
Qualifications and Experience:
Must have a registered pharmacy technician license in the state of Virginia and national certification such as PTCB, NHA, or ExCPT Minimum of 2+ years recent pharmacy technician experience in retail, closed-door, mail order, or long-term care settings (hospital experience is not required) Highest level of education indicated on resume (HS, GED, Bachelor's, etc.) Local candidates only
