Job Description

  • Job Summary and Qualifications
  • As a Laboratory Assistant at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team.
You will be more than a phlebotomist! We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing.
In this role:
  • + •You will provide courteous and caring customer service and support to patients, family members, physicians, and their office staff.
  • + •You will obtain specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection techniques, and process those and other specimens so as to be ready for testing within the laboratory.
  • + •You will process reference lab specimens for shipment, ensuring quality and acceptable turn-around-times.
  • + •You will verify documentation on incoming orders and maintain necessary logs.
  • + •You will transcribe written orders for outpatient specimens and ensuring test results are sent to the ordering physician.
  • + •You will train new employees and others in specimen receiving duties and responsibilities.
  • Qualifications:
  • + •Certification in phlebotomy highly preferred.
  • + •High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • + •Good computer skills; filing/clerical skills; self-discipline in organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • + •Prior specimen receiving experience preferred.
  • + •One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • + •Course in medical terminology preferred.
  • + •Excellent communication skills.
