Job Description

- Job Summary and Qualifications
- As a Laboratory Assistant at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team.
In this role:
- + •You will provide courteous and caring customer service and support to patients, family members, physicians, and their office staff.
- + •You will obtain specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection techniques, and process those and other specimens so as to be ready for testing within the laboratory.
- + •You will process reference lab specimens for shipment, ensuring quality and acceptable turn-around-times.
- + •You will verify documentation on incoming orders and maintain necessary logs.
- + •You will transcribe written orders for outpatient specimens and ensuring test results are sent to the ordering physician.
- + •You will train new employees and others in specimen receiving duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- + •Certification in phlebotomy highly preferred.
- + •High school diploma or equivalent required.
- + •Good computer skills; filing/clerical skills; self-discipline in organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- + •Prior specimen receiving experience preferred.
- + •One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
- + •Course in medical terminology preferred.
- + •Excellent communication skills.
