Job Description

Position Title:
Full-Time Lab Tech/Phlebotomist Reports To:
Clinic Site Director Office Hours:
7:00am to 3:30pm,
M-F Pay Range:
$30 - $35/hr - depending on experience
JOB SUMMARY
Work in a fast-paced research clinic and office environment, providing professional and compassionate support to patients, visitors, and clinical staff. Responsible for performing blood draws, specimen processing, and research-related laboratory procedures accurately and efficiently while prioritizing patient safety, protocol compliance, data integrity, comfort, and confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following established protocols Verify patient identity using two identifiers and ensure accurate labeling of specimens Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and provide reassurance as needed Process, handle, store, and arrange transport of specimens in accordance with safety and regulatory standards Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine quality control, and report malfunctions Follow infection control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA safety guidelines Collaborate with providers and team members to coordinate patient care Monitor inventory and notify appropriate staff of supply needs Respond to patient inquiries and support lab-related communication workflows Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education, Experience, and/or
Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Current Medical Assistant certification/license (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) OR a current Phlebotomy Technician certification Ability to perform venipuncture and specimen collection independently and accurately Minimum one (1) year of experience in a medical setting Current BLS certification Knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred:
Experience working in clinical research or research clinics Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and research protocols Bilingual English/Spanish
