Our accelerated Phlebotomy Technician program gets students ready for California CPT I certification. It runs three weeks of classroom and lab instruction, followed by a 40-hour clinical externship with our healthcare partners. This position is based at our Riverside campus (3750 Santa Fe Ave, Riverside, CA 92507). The Role We're looking for an experienced phlebotomist with clinical or hospital experience who can teach students in the classroom and at clinical externship sites . You'll guide students from their first practice draw in our lab all the way to performing live draws on real patients in a clinical setting. What You'll Do In the Classroom & Lab Teach didactic and hands-on lab sessions in line with CDPH-approved curriculum Show and supervise venipuncture, capillary/skin puncture, and specimen processing Teach infection control, safety, patient ID, order of draw, and professionalism Assess skills and keep attendance, grades, and competency checklists accurate Prepare students for the national certification exam During Clinical Externship Directly supervise and coach students as they perform draws on patients at partner hospitals, clinics, and labs Make sure students safely and correctly complete the required 50 venipunctures and 10 capillary collections Verify and sign off on student draw logs and clinical competency records Serve as the college's point of contact with externship site staff, and represent the program professionally Step in on patient safety concerns and give students real-time feedback Travel between the Riverside campus and assigned clinical sites as needed Required Qualifications Current California license or certification that qualifies you to teach under CDPH, such as: CPT I or CPT II with at least 3 years of phlebotomy experience in the last 5 years , or RN, PA, MD/DO, clinical lab scientist, or RCP (with 2 years' experience in the last 5 years) Recent hands-on phlebotomy experience in a hospital, clinic, or clinical lab Comfortable supervising students during live patient draws in a clinical setting Strong venipuncture and capillary skills across patient groups (pediatric, geriatric, difficult draws) Current BLS/CPR certification Able to meet clinical site requirements (background check, immunizations, TB clearance, drug screen) Reliable transportation to travel between campus and externship sites Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching, precepting, or training new phlebotomists National certification (NHA, ASCP, AMT, NCCT, or similar) High-volume hospital or ER experience Existing relationships with Riverside-area hospitals, clinics, or labs Bilingual (English/Spanish) Compensation & Benefits $28
