In this vital role, you will perform specimen collection through venipuncture and capillary draws, ensuring accurate and efficient sample handling. Duties Collect blood samples using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques, adhering to aseptic procedures and safety protocols Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation Assist patients by explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing compassionate care during specimen collection Record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature as needed for patient assessment Maintain accurate data entry into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems Follow laboratory procedures and techniques to ensure specimen integrity and compliance with quality standards Support laboratory staff with specimen processing, storage, and transportation within hospital or clinical settings Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods including venipuncture and capillary sampling Excellent patient service skills with a caring approach Knowledge of aseptic technique to prevent contamination during specimen handling Physical ability to lift heavy objects safely when necessary and stand for extended periods.
