Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Experienced, dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist to join our Primary Care team. This full-time position will involve performing routine clinical and administrative tasks, including taking patient vitals, assisting with exams, administering injections, and drawing blood for lab tests. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a caring attitude, and a solid understanding of medical office operations. Previous experience in a Medical Office particularly with phlebotomy and patient care, is preferred. The successful applicant should have the ability to work efficiently in a fast- paced environment. Must have reliable transportation. Athena EMR experience a PLUS!

Key responsibilities:

Phlebotomy duties : Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients of all ages, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Collect blood samples for laboratory analysis, labeling specimens accurately to prevent errors. Monitor and record vital signs before, during, and after blood collection procedures. Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures to patients, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort throughout the process. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with office protocols. Collaborate with providers to ensure efficient processing of specimens. Uphold medical terminology standards when documenting patient information and laboratory requests. Adhere to safety regulations and infection control policies at all times. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines Medical Assistant duties: Assist medical providers with patient exams, treatment and procedures. Take record of vital signs ( BP, temperature, pulse, respiration rate). Prepare and maintain patient records in EMR (Athenahealth) Assist with chart preparation. Administer medications and injections under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. Prepare exam rooms and sterilize when patient exams are complete. Assist with restocking supplies Assist with scheduling follow up appointments. Daily patient call backs

Skills and Qualifications:
Certification:

Certified Phlebotomist (CPT) and/or Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.

•Preferred experience as a Phlebotomist and/or Medical Assistant in a clinical setting. Knowledge of infection control practices and OSHA guidelines.
