Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The major responsibility of the position is classroom and/or laboratory instruction of students enrolled in a noncredit Phlebotomy Technician program. The instructor is responsible for supervising, instructing, and evaluating students in a hands-on laboratory environment to ensure competency in phlebotomy skills.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Masters degree preferred, Bachelor degree required in related science field, from an accredited college or university required. Completion of a nationally recognized phlebotomy training program is required.
REQUIREMENTS
Current National Phlebotomy Technician Certification in good standing with NHA, AMT, or ASCP. Minimum of two years recent hands-on phlebotomy experience; Demonstrated clinical competence in venipuncture, dermal puncture, and specimen handling; Prior teaching, mentoring, or preceptor experience preferred; Ability to adapt and manage multiple learners in a laboratory setting; Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification; Qualified applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
TRAVEL:
Occasional travel between Quincy and Plymouth campuses and Boston site may be required
Job Requirements:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate proper phlebotomy techniques in a laboratory setting; Supervise and monitor students during hands-on skills practice; Enforce infection control, safety, and professional conduct standards; Evaluate student competency and technical skill performance; Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and cleanliness; Maintain attendance and competency documentation; Communicate with program leadership regarding student progress; Participate in required training and faculty meetings; Assume other duties as assigned.
