Job Description

Performs phlebotomy, clerical and assistant functions in the Laboratory Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs venipunctures and skin punctures per established protocols.

Documents all tests ordered in the LIS.Answers the telephone promptly and courteously.

Files reports.

Obtains missing physician signatures.

Sorts out lab reports and delivers to appropriate locations.

Orders central and office supply items.

Stocks shelves and phlebotomy baskets as needed.

Logs and packages pathology specimens for transport.

Performs pathology charges.

Follows universal precautions and all other safety and health policies.

Recognizes and reports all patient and employee safety issues.

Maintains educational training/professional development and competency.

Maintains confidentiality.

Attends pertinent in-services to effectively perform job duties.

Completes all required in-services on RELIAS.Maintains a professional and friendly demeanor with patients and hospital staff.

Maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of our patients.

Performs such related duties not listed herein but deemed in the best interest of the hospital.
