Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity. Accurately identify patients and verify orders before specimen collection, adhering to all safety protocols. Handle, process, and label specimens correctly, ensuring proper storage and transportation for laboratory analysis. Maintain detailed records of specimen collection, patient information, and data entry into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and ensuring patient comfort during collection. Follow laboratory procedures and techniques for specimen handling, including blood sampling from diverse populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics. Assist with vital signs measurement, patient care activities, and infection control practices during clinical interactions. Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection/processing methods. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices. Hands-on experience with venipuncture (blood sampling), capillary punctures, and phlebotomy specimen handling. Familiarity with hospital environments, EMR/EHR systems, data entry accuracy, and patient service standards. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and maintain aseptic technique during procedures. Knowledge of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols for emergency situations. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics; understanding of vital signs monitoring.
