Key Responsibilities:
Conduct rooming and intake processing efficiently. Collect and enter vital patient data, including vital signs, reasons for visit, allergies, current medications, and preferred pharmacy information. Assist healthcare providers during patient exams and procedures as directed. Perform specimen collection and phlebotomy with precision. Administer vaccines and medications, conduct tests such as EKGs, and perform hearing and vision screenings under the guidance of the provider. Review patient records to determine the necessity of routine health screenings. Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked exam room and medical supply inventory. Clean and sterilize medical instruments to ensure safety and compliance. Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out processes, appointment scheduling, and referrals. Answer clinic telephones and assist with patient and provider communications as directed. Support emergency situations under the direction of a provider, demonstrating a sense of urgency and care for patient needs.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of medical assisting experience in a primary care physician's office, emergency department, or urgent care setting. High School diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program or an accredited medical assisting program recognized by the US Department of Education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in typing and using Windows-based software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems; familiarity with eClinicalWorks (ECW) is a plus. Strong understanding of medical terminology and pediatric vaccines, as well as experience with performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care (POC) testing (including glucose, hemoglobin, A1C, lead, PPD, urinalysis). Exceptional multi-tasking abilities and prioritization of tasks, coupled with a commitment to providing quality customer service. Attention to detail is essential; candidates must be able to perform manual blood pressures.
Additional Requirements:
Candidates must have a keen interest in working with pediatric populations and a willingness to give vaccinations.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with hours from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 36-40 hours per week.
