This position serves as faculty for the Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy programs. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, clinical supervision, student advising, and other program-related duties for both daytime and evening courses. - Teaches courses as assigned and provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction during scheduled daytime and/or evening hours, as required
- Provides clear and effective instruction in a structured, engaging, and student-centered learning environment
- Uses current instructional strategies, technologies, and evidence-based practices to enhance student learning and achievement
- Maintains accurate and current records of student attendance, academic performance, clinical competencies, and grades
- Prepares thoroughly for classes, laboratory sessions, clinical instruction, student meetings, and other assigned activities
- Promotes a safe, respectful, inclusive, and organized classroom, laboratory, clinical, and departmental environment
- Evaluates student performance and returns assignments promptly, providing timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback
- Advises and counsels students regarding academic performance, clinical progress, professional behavior, and program completion requirements
- Develops and updates course materials, including syllabi, instructional plans, assessments, competency evaluations, and improvement plans, in alignment with program goals and NAACLS accreditation standards Assists with curriculum development, course scheduling, and clinical education planning to support student learning outcomes and meet accreditation requirements Maintains regular office hours to provide student support, academic advising, and assistance with course and program requirements Participates in professional development activities to remain current in phlebotomy practices, clinical procedures, instructional methods, technology, and industry standards Participates in program and departmental meetings, student advising, professional development, and other college activities, including occasional daytime or evening activities based on program needs Collaborates with faculty, staff, clinical partners, and other stakeholders in departmental decision-making, program planning, and improvement initiatives Supports the continued growth and improvement of the Phlebotomy Program through ongoing planning, assessment, evaluation, and implementation of program improvements Helps ensure that program operations comply with the standards of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), applicable regulatory requirements, and the mission, policies, and objectives of the institution Assists in establishing course objectives, selecting textbooks and instructional resources, and developing course materials consistent with program outcomes and accreditation requirements Participates in faculty calibration and standardization activities to promote consistency and reliability in laboratory instruction, clinical competency assessment, student evaluation, and grading Assists with the coordination and evaluation of clinical education experiences and maintains effective communication with clinical affiliates and preceptors.
Participates in institutional events and activities, including graduation ceremonies, orientations, recruitment events, and other assigned college functions

Requirements:

Preferences:
Associates degree or higher preferred in healthcare related profession such as: Medical Assisting (CMA/RMA), Practical Nursing (LPN) and Medical Laboratory Technology. SDCP BOC/ASCPi Certification as an MLS, MLT, or Phlebotomy At least one year of teaching experience
