ABOUT THE ROLE
Coordinates and performs tasks in several areas of the clinical laboratory including but not limited to phlebotomy, specimen processing and waived laboratory testing.
YOUR ROLE WOULD ENCOMPASS
Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. Maintains competency and proficiency with respect to all phlebotomy procedures; maintains awareness of all laboratory policy, technical and procedural changes. Performs blood collection from adult, children and infant patients using appropriate capillary collection or venipuncture technique. Provides patient care with compassion and empathy utilizing mandatory customer service tactics as required by policy/procedure. Completes assigned tasks accurately and timely, adhering to all laboratory standards, policies and procedures. Accurately performs computer entry of patient demographic and testing information including specimen data collected by laboratory or other hospital staff. Responsible for specimen receiving and handling for in house and reference laboratory testing, which includes the use of centrifuges. Under the supervision of technical staff, performs waived laboratory testing. Assists with pre-analytical processes to include preparation for various testing. Reviews Outpatient Requisitions for accurate / appropriate laboratory orders. Responsible for supply and equipment inventory and ordering to ensure department areas are properly supplied. Participates in departmental proficiency testing as assigned. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains department equipment and surfaces as needed. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES
(PROVEN
PERFORMANCE IN
): Graduation from a high school or equivalency
  • required Complete of a basic or advanced phlebotomy program
  • preferred Experience in performing various phlebotomy procedures
  • preferred Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • required within 3 months of hire Per leader's discretion
  • if assigned to drive Bryan-owned vehicles
  • valid driver's license and verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
