Job Description
Phlebotomist Position Summary The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting, processing, and handling patient specimens while ensuring accuracy, quality, and excellent patient care. This role supports laboratory operations through specimen collection, processing, troubleshooting, and adherence to established protocols. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Collect, label, process, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, and store specimens according to established laboratory procedures. Verify patient information and ensure accurate specimen identification and documentation. Match laboratory requisitions and test orders to collected specimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Clearly explain specimen collection procedures to patients while providing professional and courteous customer service. Utilize straight needles and butterfly needles proficiently. Package and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining required temperature and handling standards. Perform routine equipment maintenance, quality checks, and decontamination procedures. Update patient information and maintain accurate records within laboratory systems. Troubleshoot specimen collection and processing issues and contribute workflow improvement recommendations. Required Skills Phlebotomy Venipuncture Specimen Collection & Processing Blood Draws Patient Care & Customer Service Specimen Labeling and Handling Butterfly and Straight Needle Experience Pediatric and Geriatric Collections Qualifications 2+ years of current phlebotomy experience required. Strong specimen processing and handling experience. Ability to accurately follow physician orders and laboratory procedures. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards. Strong communication and customer service skills. HS diploma or equivalent required

Intermediate Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Murfreesboro, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.24/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
